Bathroom Reveal 🛠

IMG_0700.jpg

This project took three months and a lot of messing up/ redoing work. I learned so much while completing this project, and I am so glad to share what I learned along the way with you.

I finished this project while taking care of my two littles, and it takes so much longer to knock out projects when trying to fit it in between naps and nights after they are asleep. However, I was able to complete some of the projects while my oldest one was awake. My son, who is almost three now, enjoyed watching his mom install shiplap and watching his dad install the tile. He would ask to help, and we would give him little things to do to keep him occupied. Now the walls are “mommy’s” and the shower is “daddy’s”. We laugh every time our toddler refers to them as such.

We did everything ourselves, with the exception of the plumbing work to move the shower head up a foot and install a new valve. We hired a professional plumber for that project.

I’m so proud of this renovation. There is a lot of sweat and tears in this one!

We’ve got four separate DIY projects headed your way from this main project:

1) Affordable shiplap

2) Cabinet painting

3) Floor-to-ceiling shower curtain

4) Shiplap tile tips.

My husband, Brant, did the tile project so it won’t be a full-blown how-to, but it will cover helpful tips and products we used for the project.

I’ll be creating a blog post for each DIY project, so you can build along with me! Don’t worry, I’ll explain every detail. I want you to feel confident that YOU CAN DO THIS! You just have to take a leap of faith and give yourself grace. And remember we aren’t aiming for perfection. We are aiming for progression. With every “mistake”, it’s an opportunity to learn and pivot. Let’s get building!

I have been waiting to do this project for years now. From the moment we purchased our home back in 2017, I knew what I wanted for this space. Finally, in 2020, we started and completed this renovation. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

For affordable quartz, order a remnant piece from your local granite/stone dealer. A remnant piece is a slab leftover from a previous project. I saved $200 by doing this! FYI, don’t ever purchase marble. It stains like crazy. Quartz is durable and kid-friendly.

I also have to share that we did this DIY project while we were on maternity/paternity leave with my youngest!

I suppose it’s a tradition now, with every child, we undertake a massive project. With my oldest, we redid the kitchen. More on that soon! I’ve got plans for our master bathroom too…does that mean another baby for us? WHO KNOWS?! Either way, the master bedroom project is a few years out, and I am amped for it.
