Gold tipped hooks

DIY

Creating these hooks was a fun single-day project, and it required no tools. With a trip to the hardware store and an Amazon purchase, you can knock this project out for only $20.

This project was one of seven DIY projects I created for the nursery. Check out the Nursery Reveal blog post to see the full room, and to see the other how-to project blogs.

Now, are you ready to create this project with me? Don’t worry, I’ll explain every detail. This project is a quick one!

How-to Make it Yourself

Materials needed

You will need the following items:

For the hooks, they come in different lengths, I choose the 3” hook so I could hang it up behind my door without the door hitting it (when opened). Some of their options aren’t angled (which I don’t like as much), the hooks jet straight out. Choose whatever length you want. The hooks come with the hardware and instructions to hang them.

Step 1

Mark how far the gold paint will go. I measured 1/2” an inch in from the tip of the hook. I place a tiny mark around the hook so I could easily use it as a guide. Tape around the hook using your guide, then cover everywhere you don’t want the gold paint.

Step 2

Take the hooks outside and spray paint them.

Protip: don’t spray a heavy coat. It’s better to have several light coats than a single heavy coat. Heavy coats tend to lead to drips, and drips aren’t cute. Let the hooks dry completely (paint can will list out dry times).

Step 3

Hang the hooks! The hooks come with wall anchors and instructions to install. We will need a drill to install these hooks properly.
